We have a venue!

It’s been a bit of a challenge to find the right place to show these 6 large canvases and the photos that inspired them (and make sure that the show happens outside of chase season) but I’m incredibly happy to announce that the Turbulent Skies show will take place at Udell Xhibitions on Gallery Row (124th Street) in Edmonton.

Udell is the oldest gallery in Edmonton and is in its 50th year. Last year Douglas Udell retired and passed the gallery on to his son Andrew and his wife Melissa. Andrew and Melissa want to take the rebranded gallery to a younger generation by having “events” and the Turbulent Skies project is a great fit. We are all very excited.

Turbulent Skies
A Collaborative Art Project Featuring Painting, Photography and Storms!

Opening Reception: September 15, 2018 2-5pm
Show Runs September 15-27 (end date TBA)

Details for the reception are still being worked out but there will be complementary wine, beer, cheese and crackers and live music. I’m still waiting on confirmation but most if not all of the project chaser photographers will be there and of course their photos will be for sale as well as the project paintings. There will a video loop with storm chase timelapse videos from the project chases as well as some other great Alberta storms. We hope to have several storm chaser vehicles in attendance. We are looking at producing a show book featuring featuring paintings, photos and behind the scenes text and images. If we do produce these, they’ll be available at the show.

For all my chaser friends who I’ve met on the roads and through social media and all the folks at ECCC PASPC Edmonton, please consider this your invitation. I’d love to see you at the opening.

Note: All the images in this post show the status of each piece as of January 1, 2018. None are 100% complete but are getting there.

I guess I better get painting.

See you in September!
